Transforming Water Landscapes Through Integrated Solutions

Safe Water Network India is leading a transformative shift in rural and semi-urban water management through its Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) initiative. Adopting a holistic, community-driven approach, the initiative addresses critical challenges of water access, quality, and sustainability in some of India’s most water-stressed regions. By integrating decentralized solutions, real-time monitoring, and traditional knowledge with modern practices, it revitalizes ecosystems, promotes water-efficient agriculture, and strengthens the interlinkages between water, livelihoods, and the environment. Central to this effort is the empowerment of communities—especially women—through capacity building, knowledge sharing, and participatory governance. Together, these interventions foster long-term water security, climate resilience, and equitable resource management.

After Restoration

01

To build water-secure, climate-resilient communities through inclusive and sustainable water resource management that revitalizes ecosystems, empowers local stakeholders, and ensures resilient livelihoods.

02

To implement community-driven, integrated water solutions that restore ecosystems, promote water-efficient practices, and empower local stakeholders to ensure sustainable access to safe water and resilient livelihoods.

03

Ecosystem Restoration: Rejuvenate and sustain water-dependent ecosystems to enhance biodiversity and natural resilience.
Tree Plantation: Promoting afforestation and agroforestry with native species to stabilize soil, increase carbon sequestration, improve microclimates, and augment water retention in landscapes.
Sustainable Agriculture and Livelihoods: Encouraging water-efficient farming practices such as drip irrigation, mulching, and crop diversification. Capacity-building programs support farmers with training, tools, and market linkages to enhance productivity and income sustainably.
Climate Action: Integrate adaptive strategies to mitigate and manage the impacts of climate change on water resources.
Community Engagement: Empower local communities to actively participate in water governance and conservation efforts.
Knowledge Management: Promote data-driven decision-making through systematic collection, analysis, and sharing of water-related knowledge.

Safe Water Network India is a not-for-profit Trust, registered on October 16, 2009, committed to bringing clean, affordable drinking water to the quality-affected habitations in India. We advance affordable models for water service delivery, prove their sustainability, share sector knowledge and work with others to take models to scale.
